A positive sighting of ‘Michelmas the evil avocado’?

For hundreds of years, people have spoken in hushed tones about the legend of ‘Michelmas the evil avocado’. Parents would scare naughty boys and girls by telling them that Michelmas was watching them, and would appear in the dead of night to wreak an awful punishment.

Very few people have ever seen Michelmas, reputedly an aging and shriveled-up avocado, but those who have had the misfortune often state that he would appear, literally out of nowhere. He may appear in their garden, or on a shelf in their living room. However, once the individual blinks or looks away, he is gone, often to reappear in nearby locations.

There is no proof that simply looking at Michelmas will lead to bad fortune, but any attempt to do harm to Michelmas usually leads to catastrophic consequences.

In 1753, in the remote coastal Cornish village of Plopcastle, it is reported that Michelmas appeared in a corn field, and an angry mob attempted to capture him, with one drunken farmhand attempting to puncture him with a pitchfork. One week later, in the middle of the night, there was a tremendous storm. The whole village collapsed into the sea and was washed away for ever.

In 1935, in Brooklyn, New York City, Michelmas appeared within the home of Basil Snootly, a renowned surgeon. After a difficult day, Mr Snootly retired to his study, poured himself a whisky, then dropped the glass in fright when he saw the legendary avocado sitting on his cocktail cabinet. In the blink of an eye, Michelmas was gone, only to reappear seconds later on Mr Snootly’s shoulder. In a panic, he tried to swat the awful avocado away, but soon found that he was waving his hand through thin air…Michelmas had vanished.

However, days later, bad things started to happen. Firstly, Mr Snootly’s house burnt down. The Police stated that it was due to a loose piece of coal that fell on the carpet. If this was all, he may have dismissed it as mere coincidence. However, several weeks later, he was fired from his prestigious post for no apparent reason. No other medical institutions would offer him a job - it was as if he had become a cursed man. Ten years later, a drunken beggar was taken to a lunatic asylum after accosting passers-by and raving about ‘Michelmas the evil avocado’. That drunken beggar was no other than Basil Snootly.

I first heard about Michelmas as a child, but later dismissed it as another fantasy tale - it drifted out of my mind until early this morning when I looked in my garden…and I saw…an evil-looking avocado sitting in the grass.

Hours later, I turned round, and saw an evil-looking avocado sitting upon a shelf in my office. I rubbed my eyes, then seconds later, it was gone. Later in the evening, I opened a cupboard in order to get some coffee, and guess what I saw…yes, and evil-looking avocado.

Could this have been the fabled ‘MICHELMAS THE EVIL AVOCADO’…And if it is, what does he want? Will he do me any harm? What is the meaning of his sudden appearance?

I am trying to keep myself composed, but quite frankly, I feel rather uneasy about this sudden worrying occurrence.

If anyone has ever seen Michelmas, or has any credible evidence of his existence, please share this information with us.
