further historical proof regarding the existence of ‘Michelmas the evil avocado’

As well as the recent sightings of ‘Michelmas the Evil Avocado’, we have now at last received some concrete evidence of historical sightings.

Damian Poodly from West London contacted us and shared the following:

“My great-great-grandfather, Edmund Poodly, was a quite well known traveller, archeologist and writer in his day. He spent a great of time traveling in South European, the Balkans, Greece, the Middle East and North Africa. He was always renowned as a bit of an eccentric, and it was claimed that he was the only man ever to swim across the River Jordan whilst wearing a Top Hat.”

“However, as he got older, his behavior started to become eccentric and bizarre. Family tradition has it that he was found wandering along a railway line about one mile from Charing Cross Station at 1am in the morning, wearing only his pyjamas and a Top Hat. Shortly after that he was ‘taken away to the country’ for his own benefit and safety.”

“The strange thing is that his behavior started to deteriorate after a trip to Greece sometime in the mid 1890’s. Apparently he came back twittering about ‘evil avocados’ and ‘evil fruits’. Everyone thought that he had spent a bit too much time in the sun, and no-one took any notice of him.”

“To be honest, I was told all this as a child, and haven’t given it any thought for years. Then two things happened at the same time. Firstly, by coincidence, I read about these ‘evil avocado’ sightings on your website, and that reminded me of the stories about my great-great grandfather. Secondly, my grandfather died several years ago, and in his will he bequeathed me my great-great grandfather’s Archive, which contains a huge amount of photographs taken during his travels. I have only recently began to sort through the Archives, looking for anything of interest or value, when I came across the following aging photograph:”

“Now, everything fits into place. This photograph was taken in Corinth in 1895. He was never the same after he came back. Coincidence?”

I don’t think we need to add anything further. The facts speak for themselves.
